    The great depth of contemporary poetry is evident in the poetry collection Winter of Hope by Krishna Dasani. These poems reveal the pulse of the 21st century poetry. The poems in the Winter of Hope show the subtle sense of mystery, beauty, grandeur of nature, a great interest in humanity, and love for the elemental simplicities of life. We find here not only a wonderful and heightened imagination, but also a rich style and a variety of melodies along with incomparable music. Krishna Dasani is a magnificent poet with an exquisite charm and delicacy of emotions. The gifted poet Krishna Dasani shows a spontaneous use of the magic of language and an exuberant poetic fervour. Krishna with a prophetic insight aptly writes:
    Love breaks;
    Love mends,
    Somewhere a story begins,
    Somewhere it ends..
    (THE BEAUTY OF LIFE)

    When you Daydream a lot,
    Your imagination might either get wings;
    Or it may simply rot,
    And know one thing for sure,
    This is a disease and sadly it has no cure!
    (DAYDREAMS)

    We can be wiser than the wise,
    And can be really silly at times,
    We have a right to do it,
    We are women!!
    We can blabber unnecessarily all the time,
    And we can be quiet for hours,
    We are born that way,
    We are women!!
    (WOMEN)

    These examples prove that Krishna is able to create really impressive, clearly visualized, concise, precise and accurate images in her poetry. She has a rare gift of creating imaginative phrases in her poems. Winter of Hope leaves no doubt in my mind that Krishna is a born poet, which places her book on a par with the best in poetry.
    Great poetry transcends geographical boundaries. Krishna has tried to include her best poems in Winter of Hope. "For women poetry is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity of our existence. It forms the quality of light within which we can predicate our hopes and dreams toward survival and change, first made into language, then into idea, then into more tangible action. Poetry is the way we help give name to the nameless so it can be thought. The farthest horizons of our hopes and fears are cobbled by our poems, carved from the rock experiences of our daily lives" (Audre Lorde). This apt comment is fully applicable to Krishna Dasani's poetry collection Winter of Hope.
